The Fifth International Biocuration Conference will be held in Washington, DC, from April 2-4, 2012. Hosted by The Protein Information Resource (PIR), we expect a very stimulating conference with a large number of opportunities to interact with groups interested in biocuration. This meeting will provide a forum for curators and developers of biological databases to discuss their work, promote collaboration, and foster a sense of community in this very active and growing area of research. Participants from academia, government, and industry interested in the methods and tools employed in curation of biological data are encouraged to attend.

The conference will include three plenary talks featuring established scientists that lead projects relying upon curated data types. The plenary speakers are Fritz Roth, Mark Yandell, and Rich Roberts.

Two satellite workshops will take place at the same venue: BioCreative-2012: Interactive Text Mining in the Biocuration Workflow, April 4-5 & GMOD Community Meeting, April 5-6.

Travel fellowships are being awarded to students, junior curators and people originating from low income countries or countries suffering from natural disasters. See the Travel Fellowship page for details and application instructions.
