The Center for Bioinformatics & Computational Biology (CBCB) at the University of Delaware (http://bioinformatics.udel.edu) is seeking a talented and motivated Research Assistant Professor to join our Bioinformatics Core team.
Comprised of affiliated faculty from over ten departments across five Colleges and built on the Bioinformatics core at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute (DBI) and the bioinformatics infrastructure of the Protein Information Resource (PIR), the newly formed Center has launched graduate degree programs for Fall 2010 and will foster research collaborations in Systems Biology, Energy and Environmental Studies, and Translational Medicine.
The successful candidate will develop pipelines, databases and software tools for genomic analysis, including next-generation sequencing and microarray data analysis, genomic annotation and bio-statistical analysis to support the bioinformatics researches in the University of Delaware. The successful candidate will have a non-tenure track faculty appointment in the Department of Computer & Information Sciences or the Department of Biological Sciences and participate in research and educational activities.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or related discipline; strong background in biology, computer programming and statistics; at least three years experience in bioinformatics software/database development and data analysis, including genomic analysis such as transcript clustering, genome assembly, SNP calling, CNV analysis, and functional prediction of coding and non-coding genes; familiarity with major bioinformatics databases and tools, and statistics packages; knowledge in computer hardware and network. The candidate should have a proven track record of flexibility and successful teamwork, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
